Advice To Live By...

Who would've thought that a random man in a little green truck at the Casey's Gas Station would give me advice to live by? I sure wouldn't have.  But, he did.  When exiting the gas station he was parked next to me taking a long draw off of his cigarette & started asking me about my vehicle.  We had a friendly little conversation regarding the fact that his wife wants to get a Mini Cooper. When I opened the back passenger side door to set something down, Reddington is right there.

Man- "Love that baby."
Me- "I do."
Man- "Because that's what counts."

You're right - - you reminded me what matters when life is said & done.  Did I love that baby like there's no tomorrow?  Did I enjoy every single day with that boy because it's one less day that I have to spend with him in the days to come? Does he know that I am absolutely crazy about him?

Yes, I've loved that baby like there's no tomorrow.
Yes, I've enjoyed every single day with that boy.
Yes, I tell him every day that I'm absolutely crazy about him.

No regrets - - thanks to a random man in a little green truck at the Casey's Gas Station. . .

. . .Since I just finished reading the book RADICAL, I have been really challenged in a lot of areas of my life.  Mainly, asking myself: "What's important in life?"  "What can I get rid of?"  "What am I doing to help others?"  "What am I doing that will make a difference for eternity instead of right here, right now?"  This book is very deep & challenging.  It is sooooooooo good, though! It's focus is taking back your faith from the American Dream.  Instead of the 'want want want' mentality, it is focused on what can I give???  Where can I serve? What more can I do to feed the hungry?  All different types of profounding stories & inspiration about helping others & deciding that the American Dream is too self-centered (bigger house, nicer car, designer clothing) and not focused on things that last.  A college friend of mine, Kortny & her hubby, Jeremiah, have chosen to adopt from Ethiopia because they want to do something to help, something that will last.  They want to save a child from poverty, hunger, & homelessness.  *I'm having a Rummage Sale tomorrow & part of the sales are going to support her & Jeremiah's adoption of a son.  I haven't even told them about my little "Adoption Fundraiser" because I want to surprise them & bless them- -  even if it's just a little bit. . .
I want to do something to help, something that will last. . .
Because remember, all of the material goods are going to burn in the end, anyway. . .  The old saying still remains true: "You'll never see a hearse pulling a U-Haul."
