Nursery: INSPIRATION

I guess I should start by saying that long before Baby Girl arrived, I had full intentions of re-doing the "nursery" in our house for a few reasons: It was time for Reddington to have a "Big Boy Room" so we were able to re-do the spare room & make it into Reddington's new room all while keeping him in the nursery.  That worked out great.  He would "visit" his new room during the painting/decorating/re-do process but he still had a place to call his own while we were transforming it.  Back to the nursery >>>> I am over the owl/yellow/gender neutral that is the nursery & has been since Spring of 2008 when we weren't even pregnant, yet, praying that God would give us the desire of our hearts.  So, the original plan was to makeover the nursery after Reddington's Birthday Party (Feb. 25) & things had settled down a bit.  Since we knew that our Foster Care License was in the process of being changed to a 0-12 month old, we had been hoping that in 2012, we would have a Foster baby & would have a bundle of joy to put in the newly updated nursery. We never dreamt everything would happen so fast!
Since the gender is a mystery when you are either A) Waiting on a foster child knowing you're licensed for a girl or boy or B) Not pregnant & don't have plans to be for a long time, I still planned to do something that could easily sway boy or girl.
I know all of my plans & ideas but will save some of them for the final reveal.  I just thought some inspiration would be fun to share with my readers for the time being. I am going for kind of an "eclectic look" with more patterns & less of a "nursery theme" like safari or Winnie-the-Pooh and so on.  My mom & I have already talked about painting & we're thinking the week after Reddington's party, we will get to it! Y'all there is no rest for the weary. Ha!
Paint Color: "Innocence" by Benjamin Moore (very light blue color)
Fabric: Grey & White Chevron (curtains & crib skirt), Teal w/ White Polka Dots & Hot Pink w/ White Polka Dots (crib sheet, changing pad, pillows)
Changing Table: It will be a diy project with an old dresser- I am painting it white & adding colored knobs & pulls
Decor: I have a few pictures below of ideas.  I would like to frame some bright colored printables and artwork as decor.  I will be creating a few diy prints/decorations, as well.  I have picked up a couple of things, already, from Target & IKEA. (Think hot pink & birds- see tray below) I will also be making matching pillows with rosettes to make it girl-y!
Mirror: I found an oval mirror that already had a painted turquoise frame at Habitat for Humanity. It is the perfect touch!
Light: A friend of my mom's gave me a chandelier that was in her kitchen. It needs painted, too.  I'm so thankful for this gift.  I've been looking for months & haven't found a darn thing that would work within my price range.  If it's free, it's for me. . . {smile}

Recently, I received a piece of mail from Target with this picture to advertise a Dwell Studio nursery. I was head over heels in love with the deer & butterfly print above the crib. Insert very talented art student-- I asked an 8th grade girl to draw & color it for me using colored pencils. She did brilliant! Her artwork is the 2nd picture below. I love it & think that she did a fabulous job!

I suppose I should stop for now. I want to leave some things for the reveal.  If I had to guess, I would say that the earliest the reveal will be posted would be mid-March.  I can't believe all the things I get myself into- Wish me luck! :)
