Here are some things I wanted to consider in making our selection:
-Name cannot be 1 syllable since our last name is 1 syllable
-We cannot know anyone by the name unless it is an extremely distant relative, friend, or the person with the said name lives far away
-Name cannot start with the letter "H" since our last name does
-Name should be unique but not weird
-Must be a timeless name & not trendy
-I know, I know, I'm very particular! I can't help it! (Just feel sorry for Nathan- Ha!)
For awhile after Reddington's birth I thought we would keep the girl name to ourselves in case we wanted to use it in the future. Now, I really don't think we will use it. I have a little list going of names I like & let's just say, our previous girl name isn't on it! :) A couple of weeks before my Due Date, we finally had the name conversation & decided on our two names. I was watching CNN right before Nathan got home. There was a new story about Sarah Palin & her daughter. When Nathan walked in the door I kind of "tricked" him into saying the name was ok. Keep in mind - - we had been talking about names for MONTHS & couldn't decide on anything. I was getting desperate! Ha! During our conversations he would say, "We'll come up with something on Delivery Day" & I was like NO WAY will I be arguing with my hubs about the baby name on DDay! SO, I said, "I heard a girl name on the news but it's Sarah Palin's daughter's name!" He goes, "Well that doesn't mean we can't use it!" So, it was a DONE deal! With less than a week to spare, we decided that our girl name was going to be:
Bristol- taken from Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol
Landre- after my maiden name "Landreth"
What do you think?
Below: This is how we made the announcement to our family on Delivery Day once we knew it was a BOY & he had arrived via C-Section. This photo is from this post back in 2009. Nathan had a yellow paper (girl) in one pocket & the green paper (boy) in the other pocket. He held the baby & dug in his pocket for the correct paper to share our good news with everyone!
The joy is just unexplainable in having the gender be a surprise. To be having a C-Section & anxiously awaiting the arrival after 40 weeks of praying for a healthy baby & you hear "It's a BOY!" is just amazing. I loved the fact that Dr. Morisetty KNEW it was a boy all along & never spilled the beans. When I heard the baby screaming during the delivery I asked, "What is it?" & he said, "We don't know, yet!" When he really did know all along. He was so good at keeping it a surprise until the baby was completely delivered!
