Our team was the very first from Children's HopeChest to experience Hawasa. We woke up early on Day 5 around 4:30 so that we could be on the road at 5:30 a.m. It was about a 5 hour drive. We enjoyed the gorgeous hills & landscape during the drive. We arrived at the gorgeous Lewi Resort on the Hawasa Lake. It was absolutely stunning. The view was out of this world & showed us a completely different, very lovely side of Africa. This resort was incredible even by American standards. We felt absolutely spoiled being there! The monkeys were super friendly & used to being fed by the resort guests.
We did a Hippo Sighting tour which we all loved. One hippo dove in the water when the boat got too close to let us know to back off. We had Lunch & Dinner at the Resort & the food was delicious. So different than what we were used to. I had a Coke & Cheese Gonzagola Pizza for dinner - - so good! The monkeys kept taking food off the table & were so entertaining!
